WHAT A NIGHT OF BASKETBALL!!!

So many upsets. So many busted brackets. It was almost like the real NCAA Bracket Challenge, watching my bracket fall apart, and reading texts from Toby that said "you officially know nothing about basketball." Let's run through it...

CLASS 1 BOYS... Advance beat SCC, IN OVERTIME! Who saw that one coming? Not me. Great effort by the Braves. Advance might win the whole thing, but they nearly went home in Night 1 of the playoffs. Incredible... Jamestown lost! I said on the podcast, and I stand by this statement, pound for pound, Jamestown has the most talent in the entire bracket. They lost to a very fundamentally sound Chamois team. This time of year, upsets can happen to anybody, but I didn't see this one coming... Eminence held on and won fairly easily. They're our pick to win the whole thing. Winston (25-2) got knocked out last night! Walnut Grove and North Andrew, our other Final Four picks, both advanced in the bracket. But on Night 1 there was a lot of drama in this bracket.

CLASS 1 GIRLS... South Iron goes down. Shocker. I mean this is a total shocker. I wouldn't have been surprised if they won the whole thing. SCC marched on and will play Bradleyville. That is going to be a close game. I just have a feeling that one could go either way... GREEN CITY GOT BEAT! They were 28-0 and looked poised to make it all the way to the finals, where they'd meet Walnut Grove. They got beat by Norborne. Ironically, last year Norborne was the heavy favorite in that part of the state to make it to the Final Four, and they lost to Green City. A year later, Norborne got their revenge. This was a shocker. In the other games, Worth County, Glasgow, and Walnut Grove (the favorite to win it all) all advanced. The game of the night was Wheatland beating Leeton in double overtime.

So a lot of brackets are busted. We had "Final Four Bound" teams going home on Night 1 of the tournament. We had overtime games. It's March Madness in late February. Gotta love this time of year, where upsets are going to happen to somebody, you just hope they don't happen to you!
