"Spoiler-Free" Review

Writer/Director: Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The Worlds End)

Time: 113 min.

Studio: TriStar Pictures

R: Violence and Language throughout

Players: Ansel Elgort (Baby), Kevin Spacey (Doc), Lily James (Debora), Flea (Eddie),

Jon Hamm (Buddy) and Jamie Foxx (Bats)

and Walter Hill (Courtroom Interpreter)

When I first heard and seen writer/director Edgar Wright's musical-driven heist action/comedy "Baby Driver" this summer I was blown away from start to finish but I was saddened that this film made $21 million dollars at the box office despite a great amount of acclaim from critics who thought it was the most original movie in the action genre that wasn't a Michael Bay disaster-piece a la "Transformers: The Last Knight" or the last "Pirates of the Caribbean" what it really was is an action lover's dream and a car junkie's fantasy especially when I found out before the movie started that all the car action is very real and there was very little CGI or green screen involved.

If you haven't seen this movie you still have time before it makes the finish line towards Blu-ray and DVD.

For getaway driver Baby (Ansel Elgort, The Fault in our Stars) as a kid was always listening to music on his iPod which was given to singer mom and dad but when his parents die instantly in a head-on collision he ends up with tinnitus in his ears and uses music to drown out the humming in his ear.

That's what his boss Doc (Two-time Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey, Netflix's "House of Cards") has him at his disposal and what he likes about him.

But when Baby falls in love with waitress Debora (Lily James, The Exception) off the clock he sees a chance to get out the game.

This causes friction with his partners Buddy (Primetime Emmy-winner Jon Hamm, Tour de Pharmacy) and sociopath Bats (Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx, Sleepless) who coerce Baby into one last job.

Can Baby get out the game alive and get the girl? You just have to find out with the best action movie since "John Wick [2014]"! The action in and out of the car blazing and the cast is wonderful.

My final cut: 5 out of 5 stars!
