Laettner's Last Shot, and Something I Never Noticed Before

You're team is up 1 point. There are less than 4 seconds left on the clock. The other team has to go the entire length of the floor. How do you defend this play?
Do you put a defender on the ball, in an attempt to make it a harder pass? Do you NOT put a defender on the ball, so that you are playing "5 against 4" on the catch and shot? Do you try to make them catch it in front of you? Do you deny the ball?
These are the questions coaches have to ask themselves.
Here is a look at two of the most famous shots in NCAA Tournament History, "The Shot" by Christian Laettner and "The Hook and Ladder" by Bryce Drew. In one example, they guarded the ball. In the other, they did not. In both examples the offensive team makes the final shot.
How would you have guarded each play? I noticed something when I watched this that I'd never seen before. I bet you say the same thing after you see this.
Thanks for reading. #JWT
