Made in Scott County: Otto Porter Jr. Continues to Silence His Critics

We have our first high school basketball jamboree of the year tonight. So I'm sitting at my desk, about to go to the gym and check things out, and I said to myself, "Let me scroll through my Just Win Today Coaches Feed" to see if there is anything new going on.
I found this link that said Robert Covington of the Philadelphia 76ers is the #1 rated small forward in the NBA in "real plus minus." Since Otto Porter Jr (aka "Bubba" to everybody from Scott County MO) is also a small forward in the NBA, and he used to ride shotgun with me on the way to school. I thought I'd check the list.
Here's what I found...

Porter ranks 3rd in the NBA in real plus minus among small forwards, right between two guys you might have heard of, Kevin Durant and Lebron James. If you look at Win Shares, Porter ranks 5th overall among NBA small forwards.
This past summer Porter signed a 4 years, $106 million dollar contract extension with the Washington Wizards. Porter's game is rooted in fundamentals, vision, intelligence, and WINNING, not flashy dunks or fancy passes. Because he is "all substance" and not "all flash," there are a lot of basketball idiots out there (like Skip Bayless) who called Porter a "role player" and said the signing was "the most laughable free agent signing in sports history."
Taking things a step further, looking at his real plus minus, Porter ranks 11th overall in the entire NBA. Isn't the game supposed to be about winning? Isn't it supposed to be about putting the ball in the basket, and stopping the other team from putting the ball in the basket?

Porter is a winner. He just keeps putting up numbers and his team just keeps winning. He comes from a long line of winners. There are 25 state championship banners (18 boys, 7 girls) and 32 Final Four banners hanging up at Scott County Central. Off the top of my head, the Porter family is represented on probably 28 of those banners, give or take.
Everybody said "oh he's just a good player at Class 1 School. Wait until he plays against real athletes." We saw how that turned out.
Everybody said, "oh he won't make it at Georgetown. He's too skinny. And he didn't even play AAU." We saw how that turned out.
Everybody said, "3rd pick in the draft? Oh well, it was a weak draft. Wait until he actually gets to the league and has to play against grown men." We saw how that turned out.
So all of the critics can keep talking. The numbers don't lie. You keep doubting the guy from Scott County that we all call Bubba.
We already know how it's going to turn out.
Thanks for reading. #JWT
