The 'Lose 1-2 Pounds Per Week, No Exercise' Diet

So it's Day 3 of my "Water Only" for one week challenge. Here is the thinking behind this challenge...

I coached a kid one time that struggled with his weight. I gave him some simple advice: Don't drink anything but water, and you'll lose weight. No problem. Your body regulates itself better (metabolism, toxins, etc) when you're properly hydrated. On top of that, your body burns fat faster when you drink more water and WATER HAS NO CALORIES, so substituting that for anything you drink is the easiest way to cut calories.

A conservative estimate says that the average person consumes 800 calories per day in what they drink. If you did that 5 days a week (just looking at the work week), that's 4,000 calories per week. You have to cut and/or burn (i.e., not eat and/or exercise) 3,500 calories to burn one pound of fat.

If you extend this to the weekend, you could burn 1-2 pounds per week with no exercise and no other change to your diet. Sounds simple, right?

It's not! It's just hard to do!!

For example, today is a day that I would have gotten a cappuccino on the way to work. I had to stop, and if I wasn't on my "challenge week," I would have got myself a grande mocha caramel with cream and sugar. Instead, I went to work and downed half a gallon of water before lunch.

It's hard to change your habits... not drink coffee, ignore soda or sweet tea (my kryptonite)... but if you can do it, it's not hard to cut 5-8 pounds in one month. If a person could to that, your metabolism would also start to change, your body would cleanse itself of a lot of toxins and other junk, and you would really feel a lot better.

Right now, it's just one week at a time! I appreciate all the feedback I've had for this. It's easier to do in a group for sure. Everybody stay strong, put down that sweet tea LOL. #JWT #JoinTheRevolution #H2O
