"I don't like to say never or always. Those words will make a liar out of you."

- David Heeb

Good morning to the JWT Fam. I hope everybody had a great weekend. Here is the word I want to focus on for today...

NEVER. Or Always. Whichever way you want to look at it.

Yes, I did just quote myself at the beginning of this pep talk. Sorry about that. Some of my friends have been on my case about being a little "too serious" with my these. They want me to get back to trying to be funny, even though I'm not that funny, but they just think it's funny when I try to be funny.

So I quoted myself. But I really do say that all the time.

I don't like to say never or always. In life there are not going to be a whole lot of those situations. In life, it's really and truthfully "most of the time" or "almost always" instead of always. If you stop and think about how rare "always and never" are in your own life, you'll start nodding your head, because I'm right.

Have you ever had somebody tell you that they'll ALWAYS be around? Have you ever had somebody tell you that they'll NEVER let you down or hurt your feelings? Yes you have! So have I.

Even your best friend in the world has let you down. Even your own parents have let you down. That's life. And you know what, that's okay. I've let people down. So have you. None of us are perfect.

So what's the point? Here is is... don't box yourself in with always or never. Don't do it. Don't put yourself in a situation where you'll NEVER forgive somebody or you'll NEVER EVER "do that" (whatever that is) again. Because if you do, you're limiting yourself and your potential and your possibilities.

I'll use a coaching analogy. There are guys who will NEVER play a zone defense. Then they have that year where they're down in talent, and their best two players can't guard their own shadow. What do they do? They stick to that man to man, leave one of the scorers on the bench, and finish with a 6-18 overall record.

Why? Because they boxed themselves in with NEVER instead of just playing a dang zone LOL.

Leave that door open. Give yourself a chance. Don't say never or always. You'll be glad you did.
