"Alone, we can do so little. Together, we can do so much."

- Helen Keller

Good morning to the JWT Crew. I hope everybody has been reading The Morning Pep Talk everyday. Today's word of the day comes from a former player of mine, Chris Monroe...

TEAMWORK

I have been so blessed to be a part of some awesome accomplishments in my lifetime. I was the head coach of two state championship high school basketball teams. I was the head coach at a small college where we were ranked number one in the nation for 12 straight weeks. I was the principal at a charter school in Florida that was losing money, and by the middle of the year we actually stopped losing money. I'm the superintendent at a school that has a perfect 100 school grade right now and is great financial shape.

I can tell you EMPHATICALLY that I didn't do any of those things by myself. In my experiences, and I believe this to be 1000% true, you don't ever accomplish anything great by yourself. It takes teamwork.

For those state championship teams, I had awesome guys to work with. We had some very talented players that went on to play in college. I had great assistant coaches, talented men that are both high school administrators today. We had a great athletic trainer, a guy who volunteered to run our camera, parents who supported our team and would even help me go scout games.

I didn't do any of that by myself.

The same was true at the college I coached at, where I had an awesome group of young women to work with. I stay in touch with almost all of them, and they went on to have success after they were done playing for me. So the success that "I had" with them was actually me just sharing in their talent while I was lucky enough to be associated with them.

Did I work hard and prepare and try to put everybody in a position to be successful? Sure I did, but success never happens in a vacuum. It never happens without help.

The school I work at now is an awesome place. We have great kids and incredible teachers. I tell people all the time, it's not just those kids and teachers, but it's also the bus drivers, the cooks, the custodians and maintenance people, the secretaries, and of course the parents... everybody pitches in. There is no way this school would be as successful as it is without all of those people's talent and dedication and effort. It just wouldn't be possible.

So who is your "team" right now? Who do you surround yourself with? Are they lifting you up? Are they making you better? I hope they are. Put yourself around good people and just watch your success multiply. Start today. Just Win Today!

And if you can help somebody else while you're doing it, even better!
